Export, Update and Import your documents to and from Google Docs, Zoho and WebDAV servers.
With OOo2GD you may export to Google Docs, Zoho and WebDAV servers:
* Documents: ODT, SXW, DOC, RTF without modification, other known to OO.org after conversion to ODT
* Spreadsheets: ODS, XLS, CSV without modification, other known to OO.org after conversion to ODS
* Presentations: PPT, PPS without modification, other known to OO.org after conversion to PPT

See how it works.

For Google Docs you may export, update and import all your documents, spreadsheets and presentations, for Zoho you may export documents, spreadsheets and presentations, and import documents and spreadsheets, to WebDAV you may export what you are able to open in OO.org :-)

Needs Java 5+ to work.

On Mac OS OO.org is 32 bit application, Java 6 is 64 bit application. Because of this OO.org uses Java 5 to run extensions... and Java 5 doesn't understand Java 6 classes and produces "Unsupported class version error".
2 hours ago I created test version [still not published, but send only to some testers] of OOo2GD in Java 5, and it works [with some problems] on Mac OS. More details and screens available on one of my blogs http://eng-przemelek.blogspot.com/2009/03/openofficeorg2googledocs-and-apple.html

Hi, tried to install current version for OO 3.0.1 (OOO30m14 build 9376) having Java 1.6.0_10 (Ubuntu 8.10) but the shortcuts do not appear in menu. Any ideas?

I assume that you restarted OO.org.
Sometimes under Linux you may need to install extension twice. I don't know why, but sometimes first installation doesn't work :-(

I have the same problem. I followed your instructions and installed it again, OO asked me if I wanted to replace the current version, I said yes, restarted OO and it didn't work.

Then I removed the extension, restarted OO, installed the extension again, restarted OO, and the menus still don't appear. This is with OO 3.0.1 on Windows, latest oo2gdocs extension.

Never mind, apparently there's no menu anymore. I was looking for the old menu, but it seems like there's only a toolbar now, that's why I missed it.
Or is there supposed to be a menu anyway?

Ok I feel like I'm spamming this comment thread now...

Anyway, I just read the "known issues" (http://code.google.com/p/ooo2gd/wiki/KnownIssues), where it says that:
"After installation of version 0.5+ of AddOn on some non-Windows systems it is possible that "Google Docs" menu isn't visible. To resolve this problem please open Extensions Manager (Menu Tools -> Extension Manger) and Disable and after this Enable AddOn. Next restart OpenOffice.org. Everything should works well."

So apparently there should still be a menu. I disabled/enabled it & restarted, but that didn't help either. Also, the issue says it's for "non-Windows systems", but I'm using XP.

What can I do?

Hi, I installed it again, actually, now I installed version 1.4.2 and it appeared in my Ubuntu OOO3 after restarting ooo. Thanks!

i have windowsxp sp2 and openoffice org 2.3
then I import document from google dosc and change it in openoffice, by default this document save in temporary directory with too long address (i.e. D:\Documents and Settings\mylongname\Local Settings\Temp) and if I try export this changed documet to google docs I get error "String index out of range: -25" because address location of document too long. If I save this documen in another location (i.e. D:\) it export perfectly.

I know that this bug existed, but it was long time ago. Version 1.4.1. should be free from this bug.

hmm... I use exactly version 1.4.1 that I downloaded today from http://ooo2gd.googlecode.com/files/gdocs-1.4.1.oxt

I tried to reproduce this problem with file C:\Documents and Settings\rmkverylongnameoffolder_i_hope_it_will_help_to_make_problem_rmkverylongnameoffolder_i_hope_it_will_help_to_make_problem_rmkverylongnameoffolder_i_hope_it_will_help_to_make_problem\Local Settings\Temp\CV - EN.odt and I was able to upload this file.
May you share with more details?
I'm interested in name of file, and if it is possible with full path to this file.

i tried reproduce this problem on windows vista sp1+OOo 3.0.0 and get another error: "Problem: no enum const class com.google.gdate.date.docs.DocumentList.Entry$MediaType.testfilename" This file on C:\Users\grokinn\AppData\Local\Temp but it's name testfilename without ".odt", if I save as "testfilename.odt" on C:\Users\grokinn\AppData\Local\Temp this file upload normally.

I will try reproduce this on my windows xp and OOo 2.4 tomorrow.

Because Google libraries uses extension to recognize type of file, file MUST HAVE extension.

but by default imported file save without extension

Probably because of this that most of my files in Google Docs was created by OOo2GD most of them had proper extensions, but you are right that OOo2GD may makes problems when it download files without extensions.
I think I will add option to add file extensions during download.

I will look on it again and try to reproduce this problem.
In the future I will prefer reporting of problems here: http://code.google.com/p/ooo2gd/issues/list

Hi,
I'm trying to use gdocs 1.2.3 with OO 3.0.0 on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard with Java SE 1.6.0_07 (Intel). When you go to "Archive -> Google docs & Zoho -> Configuration", nothing happens. None of the buttons in the toolbar seems to work neither. Any idea?

Thanks.

In OpenOffice.org go to Tools -> Options -> Java and check if it points on this Java SE 1.6.0_07.

I had the same issue here, so I added Java 6 as a Java environment, restarted OpenOffice and it doesn't work either.

I don't have Mac, I don't want to have one, so till somebody don't find where is a problem I cannot help.

JAVA's debug in console says:
30.10.08 10:37:45 [0x0-0x94094].org.openoffice.script[1531] Exception in thread "Thread-101" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/swing/GroupLayout$Group

It looks that your Java cannot find some basic classes [those which should be shipped with Java], and from this what I can see it looks that those are classes added to Java 6.0.
My diagnosis is: your OpenOffice.org doesn't use Java 6.
Please change used Java to Java 6. Please use #3 from http://code.google.com/p/ooo2gd/wiki/KnownIssues

I've read the wiki page, and I've selected Java 1.6, but still nothing works.

I've installed the Java for MacOS 10.5 Update 1

In OOo's Java options, I can see JRE 1.6.0_07 available. I've selected it. Still nothing works.

What am I missing?

Hi guys.

This is one great idea for an extension. Does not work for me yet, I have OOo 3 on Linux, with jre 1.6.0_b7.
I have two questions in order to troubleshoot further:

- I have two JVMs in my openoffice, 1.5 and 1.6, with the 1.6 release selected. Should I have only one?
- I see people mentioning the debug console, how do I get to that?

Thanks a lot,

Mark

Hi,

I'm using Oo 2.4.1, with Java (JRE) 1.0.6_06, running on Ubuntu 8.04.
I can upload and download text documents (odt) to/from GoogleDocs but I can only upload spreadsheets documents (ods).
Both text and spreadsheets docs are listed in "Document Title" but for ods and xls files "Open" and "Open Via Browser" buttons are disabled.
Also, I uploaded a spreadsheet but when I opened it on browser (Firefox 3.0.1) I saw that the graphics (plots) were lost.
Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help. All the best.

Antonio

Downloading spreadsheets from Google Docs isn't supported by Google Docs [they also don't support downloading of documents and presentations, but it's possible to workaround this problem], and because of this AddOn cannot do it [technically to download spreadsheets AddOn would need to pretend browser what may break Google Terms Of Service, so I decided don't try it.]
Google Docs and Zoho may do some harmful things to stored documents. They need to convert documents from it's original format to some theirs format, and again during export to client they need to make conversion from theirs inside format to requested format. It looks that some parts of documents may be lost in this process.
Documents stored on WebDAV servers are always identical as those send to server [assuming no one changed them in the meantime ;-)]

Thanks Przemyslaw for your explanation and congratulations for you work.

Best regards,

Antônio

I'm really keen on this extension but I can't get it to load. I think I've tracked it down to it requiring Sun's jre6, which I don't have installed. I tried installing that, but there's no bin for my PPC processor. Am I right on this conclusion or am I wandering down the wrong path?

Yes, I know that I'm in an obscure group, running Ubuntu Linux on an old Mac Mini, but this is the first thing I've found that won't work because of it. Well, it won't do flash either, but I really don't care about that.

Any ideas for a work-around or a redirection to the right path would be appreciated.

David...

Hi Dave,

Have you checked out openjdk6-jre? I'm not sure if it's available for ppc, but if not for 8.04 then it might be for 8.10.

These sites have links to more technical information, if you are so inclined:

http://openjdk.java.net/

http://icedtea.classpath.org/wiki/Main_Page

Does your Mini have enough resources to run an x86 emulator, such as Qemu? That might be another alternative.

Regards,

-james.

Configuration option will not launch on my MacBook Pro running m5 (RC 1).

Hi,
i was looking around and saw this:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/AppendixC/The_WebDAV_Content_Provider

might help you solve the issue.

Thanks,
Wayne Glover

First, thanks for adding webDAV. You may remember that I was the requested the addition. It's been helpful to me.

1) just a reminder to anyone using this that webDAV can't work with spaces in the file name. webDAV uses HTTP commands (PUT, in this case) and spaces are not allowed. I tried this and the file was never uploaded. Looking at the error log on my server helped me learn this.

2) even when the files not uploaded (for example, item (1) ), you still get the 'file upload' success box. not sure why.

any comments would be appreciated.

Wayne Glover

1) true
2) true - and I still don't know why

I hope I will fix it next version.

Hi, i have an external XML file that has information that duplicates some of the configuration needed for webdav. specifically, full URL, username and password.

On startup of webdav function, would your program be able to bring in this xml file, read it (knowing of course the element names it was looking for). and use this data.

the reason i want this is i only want config data in one location. i want to avoid errors.

i know this would not be an easy change and i would look to hire a programmer to make it happen. i thought you'd be the best person to know if it can be done.

thanks
Wayne Glover

i problem error when trying to upload to google and zoho says successful, but then can't find it in account. Any suggestions of what to do differently.

thanks,

I have installed beta 3 on a Leopard 10.5.3 system, with the latest version of the extension. I am using the Apple java 1.5.0_13. I have enable/disabled the extension, can see it but if I hit configure (or anything else), nothing happens, I don't get a dialog box for google.

It's because Java 1.5, extension needs Java 6 :-(

Thanks, that is what I figured, but if I put Java 6 on my mac, choose it for open office as a java engine, will the mac still use the apple java for all its needs so there are no further problems with the OS or other apps?

I don't know, probably you may use differ Java for OpenOffice.org and differ for browser.

This isn't urgent or anything of the sort, but I just noticed that when you added the ability to upload/download via Zoho ( great addition by the way ), there are now 4 toolbar icons. I've been having problems with toolbar space to prevent another line of icons to be created and use up more window space. It took me a long time to organize everything and now I don't know how to make it fit because of the 2 additional icons. =/

I'm just asking if you could instead allow these accounts to be selected in a single window so that you may only need 2 icons of toolbar space once again. Either that or you make it possible to upload/download from the Tools > Add-Ons menu. =>

The 4 icons are unacceptable, especially as Zoho ones can't be removed. But it gets worse. In the beta 3 version of OO double clicking the extension fails to install (as does any of the other suggested methods). It was all going so well.

On my installation of OOo beta 3 and other installations which I know extension works well. If you noticed problem please create issue on extension page http://ooo2gd.googlecode.com with detail description of problem.

Have tried out this extension with my gmail account and it works fine for upload and download.

I really want to use it with my google apps account. It has worked fine for upload but when I attempt to download it gives message "Problem: Bad Gateway." This happens a couple of minutes after i click Get List (so I never get the list.)

Can you help?

Please install version 1.0.4, and when problem will occurs, go to Configuration window, click on Error Log, select text in Error Log [you will need to close Config Dialog to do it], go to http://ooo2gd.googlecode.com, choose Issues, create new issue and put this text from Error Log to issue description.
Without it I cannot determine where lies problem.

Installed version is 1.0.4.

I've forwarded the error log as requested.

Thanks for your attention. This will be a really useful tool for me when its working...

Could anyone tell me why I can successfuly log in, upload .doc files, see the file names that I've uploaded, but as soon as I try to download a file I get the following message:

>Server Error
>Sorry, you've reached a login page for a domain that isn't using Google Apps. Please check the web address and try again.

I am using xUbuntu 7.10, OOO 2.4, JRE 1.6.0_04

Thanx

Are you using GMAIL account or Google Apps account? For now if provided account name is in form mail@domain.com OOo2GD assums that this account is used in Google Apps. [this may also provides to bug when we use user@gmail.com] This problem should be fixed in version 0.9.6.

This extension does exactly what it is supposed to - hooks into Google Docs and allows you to upload/download files from/to Google Docs in a second and utilize within OpenOffice. It would be nice if it had an auto-synchronization feature and created versioning on the Google Docs size - but for now it does what it says.
