This extension allows you to hide or show the grid lines on a sheet of a Calc file with multiple sheets, without affecting the other sheets, just by clicking a button, just the way Excel and LibreOffice do.
You do NOT need to write anything inside the macro. All you need to do is to click the button and the active sheet grid lines will be hidden or shown. Even if you go to another sheet, every time you go back to the sheet you changed, it will be in the way you left it. By the way, you can change how many sheets you want.
You will need to reset the grid lines view in two cases:
1) When you re-open the Calc file, after close it; and
2) When you re-name the sheets.
But, anyway, in both cases you reset it just by clicking the same button. It's necessary to run the listener that intercepts the active sheet.
After the installation, it will create a new library called “GrdiLinesLib” inside the “My Macros” container and it will add a new menu in “Tools\Add-ons” and a new toolbar that can be viewed by “View\Toolbars”. Don't forget to restart the OpenOffice after the installation.
The extension installation package was tested in OpenOffice 3.2 and 3.3 and works nice. Any way, if you have a problem to install in your OpenOffice by the extension manager, then after download the extension, unzip the installation file named “GridLines_v1.1.oxt or 1.2” and follow the instructions inside the “Read_me.txt” file to get installation alternatives.
History:

The idea about this extension comes after to discuss this issue in the forum OpenOffice.org community (http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=38999).
By the way, credits for the volunteer “Charlie Young” by the idea about to use a listener checking for the active sheet.

Comments
Thanks for this extension cause LibreOffice (ex- Go-OO) has included this feature since long time ago.
Could you improve it with translation strings?
In french, the tooltip is "Afficher / masquer la grille".
Thanks for your comment, aqualung2010.
Don’t worry.
I did not make any translation into German.
Thanks for your comment.
As you requested, I have translated the tooltip to Polish, in version 1.3.

martius
