Sparklines are small (word-size) charts that illustrate trends and variations.
And they are now ease to create from OpenOffice.org Calc using EuroOffice Sparkline!

Sparklines are simple things and now creating them is simple too. Just select the data series you want to use as the basis of the sparkline and click EuroOffice Sparkline in the Insert menu. Additional details of the sparkline can be customized in the EuroOffice Sparkline dialog. Sparklines can be augmented with small dots that mark the start and end of the line and high or low points of the line.
These dots are conventionally colored red for the start and end and blue for the maximum and minimum values.
These colors help you associate numerical information with the data points as in the example to the right.

Sparklines can be used to great effect in charts, but also in text. An example of this can be found in the EuroOffice Sparkline manual.

For more details on sparklines we can recommend Edward Tufte's treatise.

I have just installed EuroOffice Sparkline 1.1.3 and it works fine with Apache OpenOffice 4.1 on Windows XP.

Need better instructions, guys.
I followed BOTH instructions given, very good, added a colored max dot, selected a doc (the one I was in), moved on...
And nothing. Now you have to tell me where the tiny graph/charactor went. It did not go to the clipboard, it did not replace the row of data I made it from, a new sheet was not generated, it did not pop into any cell that I could see.
Wait, TINY. And FAINT.
Went to new bare sheet, dropped some date in three widely separated places, did three Sparklines, found three Sparklines all jumbled together, at about K27. Not very handy, guys.
Now I've got to go to the original sheet and find the first little sucker, all lost as it is in a wall of data, text, and graphs. Maybe at K27?

Hey, honest, you could have warned us users in the instructions: This is where to look.

New subject: thought it was going to be a character, in a unique one character font? I can work with a tiny graph, you know, just askin'.

Ol' Bab

when installing i get an error message:

can not activate factory because java.io.FileNotFoundException:
/usr/lib/../LuceneHelpWrapper.jar (No such file)

I run Ubuntu 9.10 OO 3.1 ...

hugo

Dear Hugo,

you need to install the package openoffice.org-java-common. The LuceneHelpWrapper.jar package is part of the official OpenOffice.org builds, but in Ubuntu it's optional and not part of the default install set.

Gergo

Version 1.0 provides only the basic sparkline. Sparklines can be used in a variety of ways — let us know how you use them and what new features you would like to see in future versions! You can add your comments here or mail them to support@multiracio.com.

Hi
I've got every time following bug when I want to update or eliminate the extension: http://www.albrechtgb.de/bilder/sprakling_bug.jpg
Can somebody help me?
Thanks

System: WinXP Home
Office: OpenOffice 3.1

The previous version of EuroOffice Sparkline was incompatible with OpenOffice.org 3.1. Because of the incompatibility, OpenOffice.org can not even remove or update it, so you will have to do it manually. Our FAQ has instructions for manually updating an extension, but let me know if you need any more help with it!
