Calc provides the detective tool for investigating formulas and the cells that they reference. But these functions are available only via Tools menu. This is not easy. See https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=8443
With this extension, you will have a new toolbar to access at Detective menu directly.
