Rupantar is a utility to write in Devnagari script (major languages: Hindi and Marathi). This OpenOffice extension helps you in writing Devnagari, using the Rupantar scheme developed by CDAC MUMBAI. It converts words from Roman to Devnagari, ex. converts 'BArata' or 'bhArata' to 'भारत', 'skUla' to 'स्कूल', etc.
System Requirements:
Java version 6 or higher
OpenOffice 2.0 or higher
Instructions for Installation:
* Download the extension to your machine
* Start OpenOffice Writer
* Go to: Tools -> Extension Manager -> Add
* Browse your system to locate the downloaded extension file 'Rupantar.oxt'
* Select an appropriate option from 'Only for me' and 'for all users'. [In case of multiple users]
* Click 'OK'
* Wait a few moments for the extension to install completely. Close the Extension Manager.
* On restarting OpenOffice Writer, it is now ready with the installed extension 'Rupantar'. [In case of Windows, it may be required to exit any 'Quick launch' from the desktop sidebar, in order to restart OpenOffice]
*Download the Rupantar scheme key map form this link [Right click on image and save image to your machine by clicking 'Save Image As..'].
Instructions for Usage:
* Start your OOo writer to find 'Rupantar' button in your toolbar
[If you are unable to find it, go to View ->Toolbars and check the 'Rupantar' option from the list]
* Rupantar is disabled, by default, at start. Once you click on the 'Rupantar' toolbar button, you will get a message saying 'You have ENABLED Rupantar'. Click 'OK'.
* You may now start using OOo Writer as usual. As you go on typing in Rupantar scheme, Rupantar will convert your letters to Devnagari.
*Click 'Rupantar' toolbar button to disable the Rupantar service.
*Or you can also use 'CTRL+T' to disable and enable the Rupantar
Note: Enabling Java is necessary for using Rupantar and this link explains the same.
