Nice funtion but I have a comment, I just use it on a column with text values and the funtion breaks.

i have made an evolution for my own usage ,

test and participate before an official version

nice idea, two suggestions though:
- put the menu item in Tools > Addons
- make the colors customizable, e.g. by providing 3 fields for the user to choose the color instead of the 8 hardcoded options

No add in Tools>Addons becouse if all my extensión add in this menu, the menu will be unoperable.

I think use a selector to the colors but if the user select two similar colors (Example: RGB(0,0,255) and RGB(0,0254)) the control of error are very complicated. Maybe do.
